A comfortable, cosy and friendly pub. Unusually for this locality the building has a thatched roof, hence its local name 'The Thatch'. Three beers from Batemans are generally available plus a guest. Reputedly the pub inspired an OO gauge Hornby model, an example of which is displayed behind the bar. Summertime sees the pub resplendent with hanging baskets and it has been the winner of Bateman's Floral Display competition. Try spotting the pub cat, Rufus.
Old Nicks Tavern

Built in 1752 as a coaching inn, this original building is now a town centre pub with its own micro-brewery, the home of Horncastle Ales. The pub has been refurbished and incorporates the old pub sign and old photos of the pub. The pub has regular live bands. There are five handpumps, four of which are usually from the Horncastle brewery. The head brewster is the the landlord's daughter. Currently no food.
