Bounty

Re-opened May 2014 after nearly 5 years of closure. As the George Inn/Hotel it was originally a coaching inn in existence before 1671. In 1959 it was completely demolished and a new building erected on the site which was subsequently renamed The Bounty. It has now been completely refurbished using HMS Bounty, famous for its mutiny of 1789, as its theme. The bar is styled to represent the stern of the Bounty and benefits from dark oak panelling and re-covered seating. 1 or sometimes 2 ciders.

Please check facebook page for current opening times. Run by the Arnold family, this friendly one roomed bar, decorated in an industrial style, offers a warm welcome and great atmosphere. The 6 real ales/ciders, sourced from across the UK, are gravity served directly from the cellar behind sliding glass doors, along with up to 8 changing craft beers. Also provided are high quality wines, 40+ specialty gins, whiskies, vodkas, world craft beers and lagers in bottles and cans plus a range of soft drinks. Super Chadwick’s pork pies, and homemade sausage rolls and Scotch eggs complement the drinks. There is no TV, jukebox or gaming machines as conversation is king. Dogs and children are welcome (children until 8pm). No garden but tables & chairs are available on the pavement outside front of pub, under an awning. Senior matches are played on Saturday afternoon and Mini/Junior and Girls fixtures/training on Sundays from 9.30am. The new clubhouse has 2 rooms which are available for functions and can be joined together if needed to accommodate 500 people. The main room holds up to 100 people and the second up to 250 people. 10p per pint discount with camra card.

One roomed pub on the edge of the town centre, near Lidl supermarket. Bought by Steamin' Billy from Marston's and refurbished in June 2016 with wooden floors and new seating inside. Outside there is a large beer garden with plenty of seating, a fire pit, outside bar and two covered 'bear pit' areas. Traditional pub food is from the 'Burgers and Brews' menu. Hosts live events including monthly quiz, open mic night and Beer and Burger festival.

Members are very welcome, as are accompanied non-CAMRA members on payment of a £1 signing-in fee. New Steward January 2019 The large bar has a pool table, dartboard and dominoes available. Refurbished January 2020. There is also weekly entertainment on a Friday night within the bar area and Bingo is played every Saturday from 9pm. The club also has a large function room which is available for hire and sits on six acres of land where our football and cricket teams play. Cask Marque beers include Doom Bar all week and at least one guest beer available. Easily accessible, the club has a large car park and is on three bus routes.

Refurbished in the 1930s with a black-and-white, half-timbered façade, the Weavers is a busy, popular pub within easy walking distance of the town center. It has been serving real ales since 1874 and offers a good selection of at least 5 and 3 real ciders all on handpumps. TV sports are available and the pub is home to several darts, dominoes and football teams. There is a regular monthly quiz and occasional live music.
