Shepherd's Dog

A popular community pub in an unusual Victorian stone building on the south western outskirts of the town and near the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr. Comprising one large room, it is an odd shape presumably due to wall removal over the years. Decoration is modern in style and quite tastefully done with fancy light fittings and a few posters and mirrors. There is a seating area with a pool table, there is also a large bay with more seating at the back. The bar area has two cantilevered tables and some overhead screens for sport, there is another larger screen by the pool table and also some games machines.

The bar of the Yorkshire Hotel but separated from it with its entrance in John Street. One big square room with the counter against the back wall. Windows all down one side face out onto John Street, where there is some outside seating. Two handpulls dispense Yorkshire cask ales.

An elegant and rather pricey establishment much given to the grape rather than grain and hops. No draught beers are sold, no T-bars or hand pumps on this counter, there is a selection of bottled beers in the fridge, local ale Old Leg Over, Vedett and Anchor Steam Beer make an appearance. A sign on the wall reminds us this is a claret and champagne bar. The expensive interior is furnished in leather and walnut with highly polished floors. The ladies and disabled toilets are down a wheelchair friendly slope behind the hotel reception desk. The décor is understated with bronze and cream walls, some well chosen prints, a selection of clocks showing different times and some cabinets of champagne bottles. The larger part of the ground floor is actually the bar with a long dining room off to one side, there is also an outside garden/patio area at the rear.
Knox

The Knox is a converted 300 year-old former farm house and farm building in a quiet suburb, on the fringe of Harrogate, a community pub well known for its home cooked food. The pub consists of a large comfortable lounge bar/dining area and a characterful “converted barn” bar where a pizza oven provides additional menu choices, and there is a quiz with pizza only menu on Tuesday nights. There is a large car park and a beer garden. Four handpumps dispense two regular Marston's beers and two changing beers one of which is sometimes from a local brewery. 2B buses from Harrogate stop on Knox Lane adjacent to The Knox. Buses run every 30 minutes up to early evening, then hourly until late.

Members only social club close to Harrogate's transport hub, though Camra members are welcomed. To the left is a large open room with two full sized snooker tables, a pool table plus a darts board and a TV showing sports. To the right is a carpeted lounge area with separate bar, and upstairs a concert room available for private hire. The club serves a regular Old Speckled Hen, and a changing beer, either a second Morland beer or Theakston Old Peculier. Harrogate & Ripon branch Club of the Year 2019.

A narrow but long pub in Harrogate's Montpellier quarter of small exclusive shops, bars and restaurants. It offers food five days a week, together with three regular and two changing local beers. The front part of the pub is laid out for dining while the rear is furnished in a more traditional public house style. The walls are decorated with a mixture of photographs of old Harrogate, prints, some with a French aspect, and humorous signs. Tables and chairs are provided on the pavement outside in the pleasant setting of Montpellier Hill with its trees and manicured lawns. NB. Under-18s are not permitted. This pub uses Autovac.

Overlooking West Park Stray and benefitting from a sunny aspect with bench tables on the pavement at the front, the pub has been tastefully refurbished in early 2019, comprising one large room with mostly wood floor, but nicely tiled at the front. The room is divided into several areas, mainly laid out for dining at the back, some bar stools at the bar and high tables for drinkers and low tables in the windows. A food-led pub though popular with drinkers too, serving two local real ales.

Stone built open plan corner pub on the road leading to Harlow Carr Gardens formerly a Tetley's house now operated in tandem with its sister pubs in Knaresborough and Ripon. Totally refurbished in Summer 2012 to a modern theme. There's a kitchen on the ground floor and it's very busy serving food with an extensive menu and wine choice. Four handpumps dispense a regular Timothy Taylor's Landlord and one, sometimes two, changing ales, usually sourced locally.
Old Bell

A Market Town Taverns establishment, the Old Bell opened in 1999 on the site of the Blue Bell Inn which closed in 1815 and was later demolished. President Bill Clinton visited the inn on a visit to Harrogate in 2001. Later the same year the pub expanded into the former Farrah's toffee shop, where there is a collection of Farrah's memorabilia. The interior was refurbished in 2017, with new leather armchairs and updated decor. Eight handpumps serve beers from local Yorkshire breweries, sometimes including a dark beer.

Modern build pub attached to a Premier Inn on a business and educational campus on the outskirts of Harrogate, it is quite handy for Hornbeam Park railway station. Décor and furnishings in modern style with armchairs and sofas as well as tables and chairs, it has a number of discreet little corners, musak and a big screen.
