Masons Arms
98 Harpers Lane, Chorley PR6 0HU
Tastefully modernised multi-room pub on the outskirts of town just a mile walk north from the centre. The tap room has a bank of six hand pumps with normally six changing ales available at any one time. Beers are sourced mainly from north west micros but beers from further afield are available from time to time. There should normally be a dark beer available although the preference is likely to be towards the lighter end of the spectrum and below 4.5% ABV. There is a small lounge to the right of the entrance with a few seats and a wood burning stove. The large rear bar has an impressive counter (no pumps) made from railway sleepers topped with a lovely oak top. There are two more wood-burners in this room, within large stone hearths. The floors are mainly flagged and with the light paintwork and lack of clutter, the feel is very modern, while still retaining the traditional multi-room layout. Pie and peas and filled rolls are usually available and pizzas served 5-9 pm daily. The Masons Arms was awarded the Local CAMRA Most Improved Pub of the Year for 2018.

Pleasant back street locals pub. There is a smartly furnished lounge with dark wood and comfortable leather seating. The pool table is in a separate room to the rear. The garden area is paved with decking. A recent convert to real ale (May 2019) with one changing beer from Lancaster brewery being available.
Sams Bar

This pub was originally known as the Waggon Makers Arms and appeared in the very first Good Beer Guide in 1974 (albeit named Waggoners). Described as a typical working-class house with live music at weekends it once served beers from the long closed Matthew Brown brewery in Blackburn. Whilst remaining a traditional pub it underwent a significant renovation in 2021 both inside and out. A long bar down runs down one side of the pub serving a mainly open plan layout with plenty of comfortable seating and a good beer garden to the rear. Three cask ales are served on hand pump with one of the three pumps tied to Molson Coors and the other two being free of tie, usualy serving pale/golden ales sourced from local breweries.
Shepherds' Hall Ale House

Chorley's first micropub, this friendly and welcoming bar next door to the bus station opened at the beginning of August 2014 and was refurbished in January 2020 giving an upmarket feel to the alehouse. Up to five cask ales are served, mainly from micro breweries from across the country, although a LocAle or two should normally be expected. To ensure a good range of ales each pump serves a distinct style of beer and a printed menu is produced showing what is coming up on each pump in the immediate future. Third of a pint beer paddles are available. Two real ciders are also served, normally one traditional, the other being fruit-flavoured and with six craft beers on keg (often including one from the nearby Rivington Brewery and others from further afield including beers from Europe), two Budvar Czech lagers and a range of wine and spirits there's something to suit all tastes. Awarded the local CAMRA Pub of the Year 2016 and Cider Pub of the Year 2017.

A tiny bar housed in a market stall, this is certainly the smallest pub in the branch area. Outside seating is available and drinkers often spill over into the market area. This is a pub where conversation and banter is an important part of the experience. An adjacent unit now forms a lounge area separate from the main bar. With 3 ever changing cask beers sourced from smaller breweries and at least two ciders there is something for every taste. Unusually for a micropub there is a full range of drinks including spirits. No food, but you are welcome to bring your own. 20p a pint discount for CAMRA members.

The third micropub to open in Chorley, this bar is conveniently situated adjacent to the bus station and just across the road from the railway station. A modern looking venue with a wine bar feel, this inviting pub offers a full range of drinks. Up to nine changing real ales are served mainly sourced from north western micro breweries, although expect to find others from far and wide. There are also two changing real ciders. A state of the art digital display board provides full price information and real ale details, in addition to updated train times for the railway traveller. Pictures of old Chorley adorn the walls. Nelipots Bar opened in June 2019 in Chorley's St George's Quarter, doubling as a micro-pub and cafe with two cask ales from local breweries on offer along with six keg lines serving continental lagers and cider. Located in one of the old weaver's cottages previously the home of Speak Easy and more recently Warp and Weft this is a welcome addition to the thriving micro-pub scene in this historic part of the town centre. The pub has lounges on the ground and first floors as well as a quaint dining room upstairs suitable for small numbers.
Shed & Garden

The Shed opened in November 2017 on Fazackerley Street in the town centre. The interior is lined with wood strips, giving the impression of being inside a garden shed - hence the name. During 2021 the business expanded, taking over the premises next door, aptly named, The Garden which is available for private bookings. Up to three cask ales are available, mainly sourced from smaller local breweries.

Converted from an old shop in 1989 the pub is handily situated for both the railway and bus stations. A single L-shaped bar on two levels with a bright yet traditional feel. This is a genuine free house with up to nine guest ales available including a regular mild and eight other beers usually sourced from Lancashire and Yorkshire micros with Rat, Wily Fox, Ossett, Elland, Lancaster, Fernandes, Goose Eye and Blackedge often featuring. Good value filled rolls and pork pies are usually available. There is a pleasant beer garden accessed at the rear with a heated smoking shelter. There is a large council car park opposite the pub, which is free after 5 pm and on Sunday. Branch Pub of the Year 2016/17. Lancashire Branches Pub of the Year 2017.

Close to Leeds-Liverpool canal with access nearby this is a great walkers' pub; dogs are welcome and treats provided. Live music is on at the weekends but the pub is quiet at other times. Normally serving eight beers from Marston's stable with the guest beers changing regularly.Third of a pint tasting trays are available.

Adjacent to the railway station and 100 yards from the bus station, this is a community local that offers a changing range of up to five real ales from the Marston's portfolio. A single corner bar serves different drinking areas and a separate pool alcove. Darts, dominoes and pool are popular with the locals, along with seasonal music festivals, Live music (rock, blues, ska, reggae, Indie, Soul) features on Saturday nights and the occasional Friday. Open Mic night every Tuesday that coincides with real ale night from 5pm where all cask ales are brought down to £2.30 a pint. Now takes card payments.

This stone built pub has a central bar covering two drinking areas along with a games room towards the rear of the pub. The former stables block is now available to hire as a function room. Refurbished in summer 2018, the interior is bright and airy and there is a comfortable feel. The regular beers are supplemented by a changing guest, which tend to be well known brands from larger breweries. Pub operates a loyalty card - buy 9 get one free.

The pub has oak beams with panelling and some exposed brickwork in the bar area and an airy dining room extension at the Chorley end of the pub. There is no garden but a timber decking area adjacent to the car park gives good views across the countryside. Primarily a food pub, there is an extensive menu and a growing reputation for quality food and service, which has resulted in them gaining a number of awards. The three changing real ales tend to come from the major breweries.

This is a former Matthew Brown house, refurbished in 2013 and serves one well-kept real ale currently sourced from the Marston's range of breweries. Retaining a multi-room layout the bar is in an open lounge area at the rear of the pub, the pool room is to the right of the entrance and another small room containing the dart board is to the left. There is a small outdoor area at the rear and seating at the front in summer.

Popular village local on the green, with something for all tastes. The spacious but cosy bar has a splendid log fire, and is dog-friendly. Drinkers are also welcome in the very comfy lounge, also featuring an open fire. Towards the rear of the building is a dedicated dining room. The single guest ale is from the Punch Finest Cask range. Disabled access is via the right-hand side door. Children's play area in the garden.
