Bishop Vesey
63 Boldmere Road, Boldmere B73 5XA
A busy Wetherspoon whose consistent performance has earned it over 20 consecutive years in the Guide. Named after the area's Tudor benefactor, who is credited with gaining royal status for Sutton Coldfield, it features a carved wooden pulpit by the entrance. Up to 11 interesting guest beers are offered, many from local microbreweries. As well as extensive seating areas upstairs and down, there is a spacious rooftop garden, and a smaller beer garden downstairs.
Lounge at Boldmere
110–116 Boldmere Road, Boldmere B73 5UB
Tastefully decorated cafe bar, served by a central island bar. There is a sofa corner in the main room plus a large function room to the side, bookable for functions. Royal Sutton Coldfield Club
138 Jockey Road, Boldmere B73 5PP
Club reopened following a significant redevelopment during 2016, when its name was also changed to the Royal Sutton Coldfield Club. Real ale is available every day, typically 2 at weekends & changes as members ask to try new ales. Salopian beers are very popular though. A small members bar is complemented by a large function room & sports facilities including a snooker hall & bowling green. Members can sign in guests on an ad-hoc basis.
Cask & Craft
56 Boldmere Road, Boldmere B73 5TJ
Friendly micropub opened in 2019, with craft beers and, usually, two real ales. No handpulls - the ales come through a keg tap but are fed by an electric pump. Wines, gins and cocktails also feature. The bar area is on the small side, but there's a larger room upstairs offering more seating. A well-stocked fridge has a range of craft beers, mostly canned.
