NO LONGER SERVES REAL ALE The Esplanade is a complex on the outskirts of Bangor containing an off licence, upstairs and downstairs restaurants and Gillespie's public bar. The real ale was situated in Gillespie's but could be purchased and consumed in the restaurants. The bar had three handpumps generally dispensing ale from the Whitewater brewery and it has two screens mainly show sporting events. Outside is a heated front garden with pleasant views over Ballyholme bay. No longer sells real ale.

Formerly the Union Garth, this large multi-roomed pub is in lower Bangor. It has been refurbished and now has a well-appointed restaurant and pleasant seating areas. The garden area overlooks the sea and Penrhyn Harbour. Guest beers are usually from the Marston's range. The Boatyard is popular with clubs, students and locals.

Situated in the High Street where the nightlife is lively, The bar can be busy at times, especially with students in term time. When available beers are from local breweries such as Purple Moose and Conwy, and food is served throughout the day. There is a pleasant outdoor seating area at the back.
