Opened September 2020, this is a spacious, new-build pub with a modern feel, but with some exposed stone and brick, wooden beams and tiled floor. The main area as you enter is a large open room with tables for dining or drinking and a log burner to one side. There is a separate carpeted dining area to the right-hand side, and at the back behind the bar area is a separate ‘snug’ with some soft seating and a mix of table and chairs, leading out to a paved courtyard area. The pub was built by a local builder after the village’s only pub, the Crown Inn, was closed by a pubco who then refused to sell the pub to the villagers despite its Asset of Community Value (ACV) status. Four handpumps on the bar serve four Yorkshire real ales.
