This single-room hostelry appears on a map dated 1851. At the heart of five dry valleys, it is popular with walkers, including those on the Wolds Way and, though remote, is well worth seeking out. Same landlord for over 30 years. The two guest beers come from independent breweries and are usually not more than 4% ABV. Children are welcome in the beer garden. Good-value, traditional home-cooked food is served. Accommodation is in the adjoining converted stable.
