At the top of a steep hill, the pub is first mentiond in 1818 as the Old Rose and Crown. Later, the gardens around it were developed and were extremely popular as they gave a magnificent vista over Wolverhampton. Steep steps from lower down Old Hill offered a short cut to the gardens but are now overgrown and unused.
In 1997 a separate building was erected to the side of the pub for use as a children’s Wacky Warehouse. Its main emphasis is on family dining, but welcomes people who wish just to drink.
Previously Goodwin's Restaurant & Bar, rebranded January 2019.
