Barley Mow

On the edge of Penn Common and sharing an access driveway with Penn Golf Club, this charming inn is worth seeking out. Built around 1630, it has low-beamed ceilings and steps leading down into the drinking and dining areas. It is rightly renowned for its steaks. The compact single bar has a display of drip mats and foreign banknotes, and serves a selection of six quality real ales. Thatchers Heritage cider is also served.
