vast Edwardian pub in former mining area with great atmosphere, once one of the 4 Boddingtons pubs in West Yorkshire - beer was formerly fetched in by rail to local station! A microbrewery (Outgang) has been built in rooms at rear, and is now on-stream. The landlord at the time of the Kinsley Evictions of 1905, a key event in Yorkshire mineworkers' history was Thomas Elstone, who turned the pub's ballroom into a dormitory for the children and provided camping for the adults evicte by the local coalowners in a rent dispute. The local Twixt Aire and Calder Website is a wonderful starting point to learn more about this event. Outgang Terrace in Kinsley was where newlyweds probably had their first house.
Newly refurbished games room for 2020.
