White Cross

Opening hours

This prominent Young's pub on Richmond's waterfront dates from 1835. A stained glass panel commemorates the site of a convent of the Observant Friars, whose insignia was a white cross. The entrance is reached by steps for good reason: the river often floods here. An island bar serves two side rooms (one a mezzanine); an unusual feature is a working fireplace beneath a window. The ground-level patio bar opens at busy times. Food is available every day.
