Impressive roadside pub set in a very rural part of Shropshire about 5 miles from the town of Much Wenlock.
Reopened in late 2019 and privately owned, this comfortable pub has a very traditional atmosphere with a warm welcome for both drinkers and diners.
The entrance is from the car park into five distinct areas with an emphasis on dining and three are welcoming for drinkers.
The first room is laid out for tables with access to the accommodation room via a staircase.
The main bar area is up steps to the right where four hand pulls dispense mainly local beers with a traditional cider in summer. The choice of beers may change but they are likely to be from local breweries Hobsons, Ludlow or Wye Valley. Like all other rooms in this pub there is a wealth of exposed timbers and brickwork. The log burner set in an impressive fire place makes this a very relaxing room to enjoy a pint. A flat screen TV in this bar shows live sport (Six Nations rugby only)
The dining room to the right of the bar is a very comfortable and has a glorious display of wines and spirits set in a glass fronted room.
To the left of the main bar, past the kitchen area, there is a third bar area with a massive array of spirits on offer. This leads through to a very bright and airy conservatory which is the restaurant (booking is recommended). Note the piano.
There is ample car parking to the rear of the pub and two patio areas which are also the smoking areas.
Summer hours may vary for both opening times and meal times.
