Haughmond

Described by the owners as "A modern coaching inn", the Haughmond is situated in a picturesque village with panoramic views over South Shropshire. Formerly the Corbet Arms, it was refurbished and reopened under its new name in April 2014. This was to avoid confusion with a similarly named pub in the nearby village of Uffington. The large bar is done out plainly but tastefully, and the provision of tables is clearly set up for bar food - which is of a high standard. Nevertheless, within all that it is possible to just have a drink. The house beer, Antler brewed by Marstons, is permanent, but the other two are subject to change. Since acquiring the pub, the owners have been hard at work adding more facilities, so now (2016) there are five guest rooms on the first floor of The Haughmond, together with a coffee shop and village store in the roadside building by the car park. Incidentally, the pub's new name recognizes its proximity to Haughmond Hill nearby, though it is difficult to view it from this part of the village (however you do get a good view of the Wrekin over the garden fence).
