Barley Mow Inn

Opening hours

Beer miles are minimal here since the beer has only to travel from the Offa's Dyke Brewery next door. The brewery is the building with the Grim Reaper weathervane! Expect to find at least two of the brewery's range on tap together with maybe an offering from another brewer. With its low beamed ceilings, this is a pleasant pub which has a cosy lounge, a separate public bar, and two dining areas, one of which can be hired out for functions. It also has a well under the bar, which can be illuminated if you ask! The water is not used for brewing, but the hops growing in the hedge in the car park are. Walkers will be pleased to know that the pub is situated right on the Offa's Dyke long distance footpath, despite the easily penetrated modern Welsh frontier being some 3 miles to the west. And just a footnote about Trefonen. It is Welsh for "Town of the Ash Trees". The pub is on a bus route, but the service offered is extremely limited, to say the least!
