Opening hours

Originally called the Union Arms to commemorate the 1707 Act of Union between England and Scotland, this basic single bar corner pub was rebuilt in 1878 and renamed in 1960 after the famous champion bare knuckle prize fighter who had been its landlord from 1820 to 1838. With no TVs but packed with photographs and prints featuring boxers and early boxing history, it is a must for boxing fans. No under 18s admitted. Post-pandemic in late 2021 and in common with many central pubs, the ale range was reported as being reduced here.
