An historic half-timbered building dating from about 1536, it has been significantly altered and restored since. It is reputed that both Queen Elizabeth I and Queen of Scots visited on their journeys through Staffordshire (but not at the same time). The pub is on a main traffic route close to the village centre. At ground level there are separate bar & lounge with a central island servery. The pub was fully refurbished in 2017.
