The Travellers Joy dates back to the 18th century and the site was formerly used for public hangings - see the plaque on the wall outside the pub! The pub's name originates from a flower which was renowned for growing in the area at the time. Just 2 minutes from Rayleigh town centre with its train station, we are also close to Rochford and Basildon. The colour scheme is deep burgundies, browns, mustards and dark blues, which blend together to give a great look. There are also stylish fixtures & fittings with interesting features such as booth seating with TV's in them where selected channels are shown. Open plan inside there is a separate sports bar which is particularly busy when a match is being shown, however sport can be enjoyed here anytime. We are a great venue but have the added bonus of security here at weekends given we are popular. Part of the Hungry Horse chain we serve hearty meals every day from the extensive menu. If it's just a drink you want our 'Horse Bar' has a peaceful atmosphere where you can relax in comfort or something a little more involved such as our quiz night or poker. Breakfast served from 10am at weekends
