The Shipwrights is one of the oldest pubs in Sunderland, dating back to the 1850' s when there were half a dozen shipyards in the area. The pub is situated next to the River Wear near the end of Ferryboat Lane - a no through road off the A1231. Multi-roomed , decorated in Tudor Style with low beams. Meals are served daily with specials such as Steak on Wednesday evenings and a Curry night on Thursday. There is a small beer garden opposite literally overlooking the river. The Coast to Coast cycle path passes nearby. The bus service is over half a mile away on the other side of the A1231 ( Broadway). Note 4pm opening Monday- Thursday
