This popular pub just outside the city centre has a very smart yet comfortable interior with a large main bar and a more intimate area at the back. With 6 handpulls, there is always at least one local ale on as well as guest ales from other brewers. Note the tasting notes clipboards behind the bar. Outside is an ample car park (for which charges have been suspended). and a large beer garden. A function room upstairs with private bar is also available. The pub participates in the new CAMRA voucher scheme or offers 10% discount on real ale for card carrying CAMRA members. A loyalty card offers a free pint of real ale after 8 stamps.
