Situated at the bottom of a hill adjacent to a once-bustling shipyard, this welcoming two-roomed pub oozes character. It has several open fires, polished wooden floors and beamed ceilings, and is decorated with wonderful old photographs and nautical artefacts depicting the industrial heritage of the area. The pub gets its name from the tough saltgrass that used to dominate the area before the shipyards. There are two real ale handpulls - house beer is Saltgrass Bitter. A large stage area has been constructed in 2020 for regular live music.
