Friendly comfortable pub on main street of Ryhope whose landlord is keen about real ale. . There are 3 handpulls with Double Maxim the house ale and two changing guests. Most of the seating is to the right and round the back of the bar. There is a pool table to the left as you walk in. There are 2 Sports TV screens and outside at the back is a small enclosed garden patio area. There is a cask ale club, buy eight, get one free. Live music features (check facebook), with dominoes and poker on Sunday. NOTE The pub will undergo a major refurbishment in January 2022 During 2021 the pub will be extended into a former shop next door, being converted into a brewhouse. Parking outside can be difficult but there are plenty of buses to and from Sunderland.
