One of Sunderland's largest range of cask beers can be found at this busy city-centre pub.In 2018 the pub celebrated 25 years inclusion in the Good Beer Guide. There are two separate rooms, with the smaller Chart Room quieter than the main bar. The pub is an enthusiastic supporter of North-East microbreweries, with up to eight guest beers usually on offer. The Chart Room has the handpulls for the 2 house ales, Titanic Plum Porter & a changing 2nd. Two real ciders are now available. A quiz is held on Thursday and there is a live music on Tuesday and Sunday evenings. There is a range of imported bottled beers from Belgium, Germany and the United States. A stamp card scheme- buy 12 pints of cask ale and receive a free pint operates every day. The pub is within the Bishopwearmouth Conservation Area
