Old House at Home

Opening hours

This whitewashed, thatched pub in the centre of Romsey has been providing ale for about 500 years as a brew pub and as a pub owned by Hammertons, Charrington and Gales. For many years it was known informally as 'The Spotted Cow' after a cow got behind the bar! The 'Old House' is well run, appearing in every Good Beer Guide since 2005 and has received a number of national awards from Fullers. The pub is set on two levels with a single L-shaped bar and a dining area to one side. Wooden beams, a wood-burning stove and booths create a cosy carpeted area by the bar, with a more open space on the upper level. On hot days and Summer nights the courtyard garden provides a calm sanctuary near the centre of the town. The full menu is available at meal times but lighter snacks (such as sandwiches and panini) can be ordered in the afternoon. Live folk music is put on every Monday. Children are allowed in the pub, but good behaviour is essential.
