Compass Inn

The Compass Inn is a cosy wood-floored beamed 3-roomed pub, seeming larger inside than out. The central lounge room with bar has a wood burner; with the two adjoining rooms dedicated to dining. Outside is a patio with plenty of benches, many under a large shelter; very useful for their annual beer festival. Also outside is a wooden hut used as a Cancer Research charity shop. The pub has been run by the same lady for over 25 years. She is an ardent lover of dogs, organising monthly group dog walks (with Sunday lunch afterwards) and declares that the pub as the dog friendliest in the New Forest. The pub also claims to be the first in the country to serve 100% gluten free food, which is from a varied menu with lunchtime specials. While dogs are welcome, unruly children were less so and the pub has been adults only since June 2021, with exceptions for well behaved teenagers.
