Hampshire Bowman

Opening hours

This 18th century coaching inn is a jewel in the Hampshire countryside, surrounded by wonderful walks, and can be extremely busy at the weekends in lovely weather. It typically serves five (mostly local) beers direct from the cask and ten ciders. Dogs are very welcome and locals provide a friendly atmosphere, especially in the early evening and weekends. It is split into two bars. The cosy entrance bar is decorated with bows and old beer bottles, plus plenty of board games and books. The other larger bar has pub signs, old photos/maps and an ancient tricycle in the beams. Outside is a large garden, with patio and children’s play area. There is an excellent locally sourced menu, often from the immediate vicinity, including an ever-changing specials board. A fine of one pound is charged (charity bottle) to customers whose mobile phones ring.
