Operated by the Little Pub Group, which has three pubs in Winchester, one in Frogham (NW New Forest), and this one in Sparsholt is its latest addition in 2020.
The pub reopened under the new Little Pub Group team 2nd December 2020. The following description dates from 2015 and may be out-of-date.
The Plough is a long-established very popular eating place, just over 2 miles west of Winchester. Although often apparently full of diners there are chairs at the bar for drinkers, and tables in the front part of the pub are not laid for food. The house is white-painted brick with a steepish tiled roof. Inside there are two large low-ceilinged squarish rooms; with subdued lighting giving a cosy or somewhat gloomy feel - depending on your point of view. The second larger room contains the bar, with plenty of friendly staff. The food is of good quality, richly flavoured and slightly traditional. There are no menus, all ordering is done at the bar from two blackboards, which can be awkward when the pub is busy, as it often is. Note that the board in the first room has more items listed than the one behind the bar itself. Presumably the regulars are used to this idiosyncrasy.
