The pub underwent a refurbishment in 2016 and although it is one bar it still retains a lounge and public bar feel. On Fridays and Saturdays the landlady's scotch eggs and sausage rolls are very popular. A proper street corner local, fronting both Shirley Park and Carlisle Roads - both roads in which parking is very difficult, especially during the working day. On Sunday lunchtimes complimentary bar snacks such as sausages and chips are put out.
The pub is close to the Shirley High Street shopping area and bus stops to and from the city centre.
