Dumb Post Inn

Re-opened in Nov 2019, the Dumb Post is a free house in an elevated position between Chippenham and Calne with a very large patio looking south over the Bowood Estate and beyond. Plenty of tables for customers to eat dishes from the traditional pub and gastropub menus. It is believed the inn got it's name from the custom of post men on carrier wagons pinning letters on a post outside the inn for the local people, in the days before the Royal Mail.
