Hesketh

This is a good community pub that is busy on Friday nights with a lively atmosphere for those who like background music. A good balance is struck between a choice of real ales and food. There is a large bar extending into a carvery (noon-9pm daily) serving area. The rest of the ground floor is screened into four areas, quite well decorated for Interior Decorator’s pastiche, with a gas flame-effect fire in one room, and in the rear room that is neatly decorated, an enclosed stove also gas fired. Some may say there has been a loss of original character, yet it continues to thrive as a destination for both drinkers and diners. There is an attractive garden area at the rear with a large car park that replaced the bowling green in the 1970s. A well-run establishment, until late 2020 it was part of the Almond Family Pubs portfolio; they ran five pubs in the Stockport area at the time.
