Park Tavern

Opening hours

Re-opened in April 2011 after the sale by Robinsons, as a freehouse. Pleasantly renovated in a modern fresh style, this large pub has one main bar area with an impressive row of eight hand pumps with Bollington beers, occasional guest and two real ciders. On your left as you enter, is a smaller panelled room. The pub is managed by the same team who operate the Bollington Brewery and is an excellent outlet for their beers. The Park Tavern is an excellent starting point for a pub crawl in central Macclesfield. Lunches are now served on Friday & Saturday and may be extended to Sunday. Thursday night is burger night. No jukebox but subtle background music. Parking is a little problematic as the Tavern is on a main road. A few spaces can usually be found though around the back streets. The bus stops right outside the door. For science enthusiasts there is a SciBAR every 4th Monday. Popular quiz nights on Monday and now with a 30+ person function room upstairs, used as a cinema on Thursday, Saturday & Sunday. Follow link from pub website for film listings. Built around 1825, the tavern is a typical building for central Macclesfield. John Horsfield was the landlord from around 1855. He was the "Horsfield" in the Parrot & Horsfield brewery based in Bollington so it is apt that another Bollington brewery now sells it's beers from the same pub. The pub stayed in the Horsfield family until 1922 when it was sold to Bells of Stockport. It became part of the Robinsons estate in 1949 when they bought Bells and Robinsons had it for 60 years before it became one of the first Robinsons pubs in recent memory to be sold.
