Previous entry for pub....
At 1690 feet, England's second highest pub. Built by John Ryle (see Ryle's Arms, Sutton Lane Ends) in the late 18th century. Large lounge and separate, more basic wood-panelled room, with an alpine feel, for muddied walkers & motor cyclists.
A welcome sight in the middle of good moorland walking country; the warming wood stove has lifted many a damp spirit. Also popular with motor-cyclists.
Separate dining room. Often open all day in Summer.
Gets cut off by snow in winter see http://www.maccinfo.com/cat/ for webcam & other info
Unusually for a pub in such a remote location there is a bus stop outside the door. Daytime service 58 Macclesfield-Buxton 7 days a week.
The guest ale is a Robinsons seasonal.
