The pub stands on the portion of Prestbury Road nearest the town and now a cul-de-sac. It was built in the 1860s as a typical Victorian street-corner pub. The friendly and welcoming bar leads into four separate rooms and an outdoor drinking and smoking area. Sky & BT football matches are shown on TV.
Saturday is karaoke or DJ night and a quiz is held from time to time. Food is bar snacks at lunchtime apart from the popular “curry and pint” evenings on Tuesdays and a more expansive menu on Sunday lunchtime. The pub is decorated with photos of old Macclesfield. Children are until 8pm.
