The highest pub in Cambridgeshire may not be as grandiose a claim as for other counties but it still makes it a decent (and worthwhile) hike up to the Pheasant. The pub dates from 1634 and has a number of original features without succumbing to the "more olde than you" that some places aspire to. Dark exposed beams and white walls give its interior a classic rural pub feel. Its attractive split level rear patio is a stepping stone to a large garden which includes a children's play area as well as pétanque court.
Since 2021 it has been run by the same people as at the Woodman Inn in nearby Nuthampstead.
