Former Antic pub now run by Portobello Brewery with shabby chic decor, and with a relaxed, homely ambience - almost romantic come evenings. Its L-shaped bar leads to a conservatory and an open-to-view kitchen. The clientèle is a mixture of local academia, musicians and people out for an enjoyable time meaning it is usually thriving up until closing time. A front patio offers outside drinking. Guest beers have a mainly regional focus, including from newly opened microbreweries. There is usually also a bag in box cider on handpump, though this is not necessarily a 'real' cider. Quiz on Monday evening, spoken word on Wednesday (bi-weekly), live jazz on Sunday and a DJ on the last Friday of the month. The food offering includes burgers and steak. Deptford Bridge DLR station is not far away.
