Tavern

Opening hours

This large looking pub, is in a traditional looking building, located on a street corner along the main coastal road through the village. It has a large single "C-shaped" room, nicely decorated, with a lounge area at the front of the room and a raised area at the rear with further seating. There are a couple of large TV screens sometimes showing sport. They hold regular live music and "open mic" sessions. Opening times may vary from those shown. The owners of the building, Star (Heineken UK) have announced plans for a major refurbishment later in 2021. *** History - One of the oldest pubs in Mumbles, opening as the Waterloo in 1862. Since then it has undergone a few changes of names being the William Hancock and during the last ten years was also the Kinsale Irish Pub. It was bought by new licencees in 2021 who have now renamed it as "The Tavern" although because some people still use its previous name, it also bears a split name of "Kins Ale" on its sign above the frontage. ***
