Large stone built pub on the back road, (100m from the main road). Uncomplicated interior with pool table at one end. Had a spell not offering real ale but since May 2021 has been serving a beer (Kibble Kent Thin Pale Ale) brewed in a former stable block in the car park. The owner/brewer is a former miner which explains the Kent Thin name - it's a coal seam. A kibble is a big bucket used in pit shafts and the owner reckoned the mash tun (which came from the now-closed Hamelsworde brewery) looks like one. Two other real ales also offered. Summer Pub of the Season Award from Barnsley CAMRA for 2017.
