Upminster TapRoom

Opening hours

Upminster, Havering & East London's first Micropub, which was the South West Essex CAMRA Branch (London Area) Pub of the Year 2018 & 2017 and Runner-Up in 2020 & 2019. It opened in a converted office on November 21st 2015, as a snack bar selling Real Ale, pending the outcome of a 'Change of Use' Planning Appeal, so for a while customers had to order food in order to drink the Real Ales, Ciders or wines. However, following their successful appeal against the rejection of their Planning Application by some local Councillors, it soon opened as a pub. The initial rejection of 'Change of Use' was surprising, as the application had been recommended for approval by the Planners, and had already been granted its Premises Licence to sell alcohol by other local Councillors! There are high tables, chairs & benches, with garlands of hops adorning the walls. Beers are served straight from the casks in the cool cellar, which are visible through a large window in the bar area. Gins, vodkas & single malt whiskies are also available. Card payments (including contactless) are welcome. Table service is offered, but is not compulsory. The bar has air conditioning. Framed historic album covers are displayed along the passage leading to the toilets. No parking available, so please use public transport or "Shanks's pony" to get there. Closed on Mondays, except Bank Holidays. Set mobile phones to silent and don't make or answer calls inside the pub, or be prepared to pay a fee of £1 for charity.
