Maltsters Arms

Opening hours

A traditional country pub, next door to the church, it retains a small snug bar at the centre of the pub which is flanked by two comfortable rooms predominantly used for dining. The Maltsters Arms was formerly known as the Shovel and Broom and dates from at least 1779. Ideally located for nearby National Trust Greys Court and walks in hills and woodland. The pub was taken over by new tenants, Gary and Donna Clarke in January 2020. Gary is a trained chef and the pub prides itself on serving a bistro pub style menu with a French twist, all prepared with fresh ingredients, plus also more traditional pub snacks for a lighter bite. Fish is delivered fresh every day from Cornwall and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available. Amongst the various events held, the pub is planning to show silent movies on the garden "drive-in screen" on fine summer evenings (using your smart phone to tune in to the sound)!
