Built in 1454, this old stone building is considered to be the oldest established inn on the Isle of Wight. Fire destroyed the original thatch roof which has now been replaced with the more traditional slate. An extension to the side adds a family area and additional dining space. The remainder of the building is traditional with intimate areas to the rear. Four handpumps (2 winter) serve a changing range of beers and the excellent food menu is extensive. A large garden is fine for children on warmer days. Breakfast served 10am to midday.
