Several years ago, after a public meeting, the planning application to turn the pub into a private dwelling was refused. New tenants added a large dining extension while still maintaining the original flagstone bar, and the pub has flourished as a result. The pub has established a good reputation for food, and for a selection of 4 well kept, ever-changing ales. Very pleasant garden, enjoying fine views to the western Solent. Winter Monday and Sunday close at 5.30. May close earlier on other nights
