A popular Georgian suburban local with a part wood-panelled L-shaped bar and plenty of seating. It is one of only two free houses in the city. The atmosphere is cosy in winter and airy in summer. There is a coal fire at one end and a restaurant area including in a conservatory at the other.  On Wed to Sun, the full menu of reasonably priced home made bar snacks and meals are available lunchtimes and during the evenings when the pub is open. Food typically includes casseroles, mini-roasts, various burgers with home made chips and salad, and puddings. The restaurant area is also available for private functions. Quiz night Weds eves.
