Stag's Head

Opening hours

This early 19th-century pub was built on the site of the village market and subsequently extended into a neighbouring shop. The newer area is mainly used for dining (no food Sunday evenings; no food Mondays Sept-April), leaving the remainder of the L-shaped bar with its real fire for drinkers. The bar is carpeted throughout and packed with interesting decorations, notices and objects. There is an outside bar in the yard that comes into its own during the late spring beer festival, when the usual diet of local micros is supplemented by beers from far and wide. An autumn cider festival is also held. Sports TV is shown in the main bar with a main screen and a repeater screen, which is especially popular on Sunday afternoons and evenings.
