A welcoming hostelry in a magnificent Angus glen, this 17th-century former coaching inn has been refurbished to a high standard but retains a traditional feel. Guest ales are served from two handpumps in the cosy bar, which features a log fire. Good-value traditional food is available. Reopened July 2018 and was awarded 4 star Visit AScotland accredition. Interesting map murals in bar of local area. Reported on 7 January 2020 as having closed. Possibly looking for new owner. Reported on 15 August that appliction had been submitted for conversion to housing. Reopened 26 April 2021 as a non profit community venture.
