Morris Clown

This single-bar, simply-furnished free house, run by the same family for two generations, has a log fire in the winter, a bar billiards table, and some unusual murals on the wall, painted by one of the family depicting other members of the family. 3 guest ales, often local, and real cider available in the Summer. The name change by former owners Courage (in 1975 from New Inn) proved controversial as morris dancing teams have a fool, not a clown, and this led to a boycott for 25 years. Note the restricted opening hours if you’re planning a visit.
