Erected in the 19th century as a beerhouse and only fully licensed in 1960, this pub incorporates buildings in Little Holme Street that were originally a slaughterhouse. It's now a friendly freehouse at the end of a terrace, providing very reasonably priced ales. Both the interior and the bar are long and narrowwith a seating area near the entrance, an impressive pool table area behind. There's occasional live music, and a disco and quiz on Saturday nights. The towpath of the nearly canal offers an interesting walk back to Todmorden.
