Well known in town for good quality meals, this pub is handy for the nearby Neville Hall hospital. Low ceilings create a very pleasant ambience and in summer the flower-decked frontage presents a very attractive image. A recent refurbishment has given this fine old pub a more modern feel without detracting from its character. The comfortable bar has a light decor with a sports TV with fixture lists on the walls; note the impressive picture of a bridge on one wall. The stylish restaurant has an attractive white and shades-of-grey patterns with mirrors. The a la carte and bar menus offer some tempting dishes from a wide range of choices, with some challenging specials among the options. A take-away menu is available Tuesday - Saturday (5-9pm) and includes meal deals among a choice of Mexican and traditional dishes.
