A village favourite which is very popular with all ages. The pleasant front and rear sections are linked by a stand-up drinking area alongside an impressive central servery that is open on three sides. The decor features well maintained polished wood panelling with the rear room housing an attractive trophy cabinet set into the wall as well as games. Some old pictures promoting popular drinks of their day include one depicting the bicentennial family tree of the former Courage Brewery whose beers it used to sell. Nowadays the competitively priced Abbot Ale is accompanied by two guest ales which sit on the front counter while the Abbot resides on the rear counter. A blackboard beside the front bar announces forthcoming ales.
