Stone-built pub on edge of quiet village. Before it was a pub, the building had been the village morgue, with the tunnel leading to the church now used as the pub cellar. Five real ales usually available. Major matches are shown on TV, but the volume is usually low enough for conversation. Advisable to book for food Friday/Saturday night and Sunday lunch. Food unavailable Monday and Tuesday. Outside are seats and tables on paving, plus an extensive grassed area often used for barbecues and other functions in summer.
