Popular and busy split level village local dating from the 16th century. The pub is the tap for Mallard Brewery based nearby in Maythorne on the outskirts of Southwell. At least one, sometimes two Mallard beers are always available with up to two guest beers. The excellent food is prepared by a French chef and is served Wednesday to Sunday lunchtime and Wednesday to Saturday evening, fish being a particular speciality. Locals enjoy a book club, dominoes and darts. The National Trust owned Southwell Workhouse is less than two miles away.
